Thursday, August 3, 2006 - Rather closed on the nose - especially when first poured. On the palate, it was a different story - from the moment it was poured, it showed deep raspberry and black cherry fruit. No raisiny or liquored quality; rather, it had great freshness - seamless, though possessing serious underlying tannic structure, pure, slightly dusty red / black fruit and notes of garrigue. Great balance and texture. This is a really impressive effort from Pegau. If it were a little more generous on the nose, I would have no problem opening more of these now even as young as they are, as with every sip I have to sit back and shake my head in awe of this wine. I can't wait to see what happens once the aromatics catch up with the palate... Note: this was decanted into a cool decanter, left for 2 hours and served at 63 degrees. I mention this because I think temperature is important with this wine and much could be lost if served too warm...
