Friday, April 12, 2024 - Wonderful wine. Day1, after 3hr decant: great structure, nose and a long finish, with a hint of tannic tartness. Countless notes on the nose (dark fruit, earth, meat/blood? Herbs) something maritime in among the brambly fruit, maybe seashell/ calcium. Day2: much more integrated and softer, with the tannin less present. I think the bloody and meaty notes are more like molasses today, a lovely background presence. Nose and palate now working in harmony. Maybe the lesson here is patience - decant the morning before the dinner? Just a thought
