Sunday, February 3, 2008 - Elegant, seductive, and wonderfully balanced. Harmonious and understated boquet of oak, fruit, tobacco coffee, earth and spice. Everything there, but nothing dominating. Powerful, silky and surprisingly fresh on the palate, with lots of ripe, sweet berries (tending more red than black). Tannins are fine and well-integrated, but definitely still there. Medium-full bodied. Long finish. So much better than the other bottle I had last March. Seems to be drinking really well now. I'm tempted to think this could have gone (and maybe even improved) for at least another 5 years. Only concern would be that the fruit shows slight signs of fading, in which case could become lopsided toward the oak.
