After having this and the '03 Bennett, these are just massive wines. The Pelkan seems a bit more approachable, but even that one can be tight. I remember this was the barrel sample that most impressed me in one tasting session with Mike. The wine is still revealing its potential. We put 1/2 right into a 375ml, and that was better 2 nights later. Deep purple fruits, no secondary characteristics yet, still a big young syrah. Fresh and embracing. Let them sit a few more years. I'm going hands off for at least 2 years.
