Thursday, December 2, 2021 - Last bottle of this venerable favorite, and it was by far the best bottle of them all. While I was not really expecting much due to its age, I was pleasantly surprised by the youthfulness of this wine, despite an alarming looking cork. Meaty nose, with a whiff of horse, but evolving into olive and cinnamon. Full of flavor, broad on the palate with good density, spicy tannins, and near perfect acidity. Terrific presence, with constant notes of grilled meat, just full of life and not remotely over the hill. Fantastic drinking, and I feel lucky to have lucked upon such a great bottle.
