Monday, January 22, 2024 - This NV in my possession is over 10 years old. It was recently passed to me since — as a curious cellar cat — I was wondering how it would taste.
The wine has turned amber in colour. As expected, the carbonation is gone and there are visible black sandy tartrates. It has a strong aroma of dried apricot. Taste-wise — it has creamy, nutty, dried apricot notes, with dark honey and blood orange aftertastes. Light-medium body with a soft and clean finish.
Not suitable for ageing but surprisingly drinkable after all these years.
On the down side, this brut cuvee has a fake plastic Champagne cork closure covering the screw cap. I could not tell until I unwrapped the capsule. Mine was a 200ml bottle — I do not know how the 750ml version is capped.
