Friday, November 3, 2023 - Expected more of a wow-factor. A bit restrained. Properly made though. Will it develop into something better? Lost out strongly against a Rauzan-Ségla 2005 served at the same time.
11/5/2023 2:08:00 PM - A few thoughts, worth what you pay for them: 1. 2005 is a top vintage, 2014 is not (regardless of how others argue the positive signs of the vintage (not a poor vintage just not a very good vintage relative to the top vintages since 2000) 2. 9 more years of age is a significant impact on development (literally 100% more age 18 years vs 9) 3. While VCC is a more highly acclaimed wine it is still very much a vintage made wine vs manipulation 4. Can’t speak on the VCC ‘14 recently but last time I had it the wine was very much still closed.
12/26/2023 1:26:00 PM - That 2005 Rauzan Segla is a pure smoke show. VCC is insanely great (not this vintage though), but that RS would beat out most wines. That was a top 10 wine for me this year.
