2014 Vieux Château Certan

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

92 Points

Thursday, December 10, 2020 - This wine is moving in the right direction and passing many, even in better vintages, on its way towards its optimal drinking window.

Wine took about 30 minutes to provide a peak and then developed nicely over the course of the evening with the last sip being the best. This has a way to go but if you have enough, no reason not to pop one now.

While it doesn’t have the depth and complexity of better vintages, it drinks well above vintage expectations. Red fruits, mainly red currant and sour red raspberry, some herbal notes, minerals, a bit more acidity than I typically prefer, already semi sweet tannins and a medium plus finish. More linear than I would have hoped but drinks really well already. 92 with real upside.

Assuming 14 is a sleeper vintage but a decent amount of coin for a 92.

Very interested in the 2017 thoughts. Oooh exciting
