Tuesday, August 23, 2011 - Pop and pour. Again, with the disclaimer of poor Resdince Inn stems, but what a stellar steak from Costco tonight!! Nice coloring, an hour after opening this has a muted nose with dark cherries - if any aroma is really discernable. The wine puts puts on a little weight with time and "feels" like a bordeaux, but if this weren't an 11yo wine I'd think it was in a dumb phase. The fruit is a little sour, with a faint cola/red cherry note. Will sample another bottle within 6 months to truly gauge its position, as I found this drinkable and somewhat enjoyable, but not something I'd drink again if I didn't have a few more bottles remaining. I will still blame some of this on the stems and will promise myself that I buy a decent stem tomorrow!
