Friday, January 1, 2016 - One look at at the colour (medium amontillado sherry) tells you this is on the way down. On the nose it's rich and on the palate medium sweet, full and mellow with bags of flavour, but it's lost the acidic backbone that is so characteristic of Zind-Humbrecht wines and the thing that usually gives their wines such precise focus. I'm not too sure how one would drink this now. As an aperitif it lacks the refreshing, palate cleansing notes required and it was certainly too rich and 'flabby' to go with the spiced prawns I paired it with. My best bet would be to have it with creamy French cheeses, but I'm still not convinced that would work particularly well either. In short I suspect this should have been consumed two or three years ago. Estimated maturity: Drink up
