Sunday, October 25, 2015 - This was an absolutely outstanding bottle of Taylors vintage 1963 port. It was a spur of the moment decision really to open this glorious bottle. Extracting the cork was a nightmare, on first inspection the bottle looked at though it has some seapage and there was some mould on the outside of the cork. Extracting the dried out top 2/3 of the cork was traumatic and I ended up poking it into the bottle and then filtering. However, my long wait and patience was rewarded with a port that I can only describe as unbelievable and extremely opulent. This port was brilliant, with a glorious depth of flavour but no heaviness whatsoever. In the glass this beauty revealed its fabulously long legs just like a supermodel! For me it doesn't get much better than this. Beautiful fruit and berry notes and a superb finish on the palate, depth and light and definitely not past its peak. A stunner!
