89 Points

Thursday, March 27, 2014 - Chicago Italian Lovers round 9- 99 Brunellos for the first anniversary of the group (Vinci, Chicago): Nose: This is certainly on the richer side with red cherries, spice, red licorice, dark berries, oak notes, dark red fruits, and herbs. There is good depth, but the oak and size are a little out of balance.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium acid with silky tannins. The oak influence comes through on the palate with red cherries, oak, tobacco, leather notes, red licorice, and some herbal notes.

Overall: The oak is there and it is a bigger Brunello, but it works in its own way. The structure is there, but this is certainly in its window right now.
