Friday, May 6, 2016 - Still a vibrant ruby purple in the glass with viscous legs. A reticent nose, but offers tobacco leaf, bell pepper, slate and sage on the palate. Soft finish that echoes with cassis and pencil lead. What strikes you most is the elegance of this wine. Very integrated. Medium bodied. One to linger with over dinner. Nicely done. Drink now to 2020. (������= Outstanding)

Addendum: This gem takes on additional complexity with time in the glass. Suggest a quick decant before serving. Over time the bouquet emerges, offering an abundance of tobacco, plums, hillside herbs and spicy cassis. Two decades old and this still reveals its charms. Lovely.
