Friday, April 22, 2022 - ABV: 12.5%. This bottle was opened for lunch and it had an extremely herbaceous nose with heavy notes of anise. With a quick decant, the herbs slowly subsided to reveal sour cherries and cranberries. However, I revisited the wine (left in the decanter) during dinner and it was surprisingly delicious. Now the nose exhibited an umami-like profile, surrounded by dark cherries and plums. The acid is fully integrated and the wine drank beautifully. I don't think this wine will be able to cellar much longer so if you have a bottle, decant it for a few hours and then enjoy.
