Sunday, September 22, 2013 - Color: light ruby -> garnet/brick rim. Bouquet was medicinal with minerals and iodine overlaying saline and madeira notes. Palate showed that the fruit was pretty much gone; all tertiary elements here. Brown sugar, leather, a little garrigue and spice with a slight bitterness too. Acidity really searing through the palate with the finish growing shorter the longer the wine was open. I think this one crested its hill a while ago. Definitely past time to drink . . . or hold a few years to make some really nice red wine vinegar.
