Monday, June 19, 2017 - One of the best wines we have had this year. Despite the 14.9% alcohol, this is smooth and elegant, yet nearly 7 years old still has some tannins.
The fruit is present, but not your normal overly-extracted Amador County fruit bomb because everything is well-integrated and balanced. We let breathe for 2 hours and that worked, there was some additional "opening up" over dinner, but really not much, it pretty well was ready to go, so would say this is DRINK NOW status. Even though it is elegant, it is not timid or thin. If I had one criticism of this wine, and it is hard to criticize such a lovely wine, it seemed to be missing the "Zin spice", but it was so great we'll let it slide.
