Sunday, October 18, 2015 - This wine, carrying the Recherché Reserve designation, was 100% barrel fermented (50% new oak, 50% second-use barrels). It was then aged 12 months sur lie prior to bottling. Medium yellow-gold in color, it flaunts ripe pear, brioche, tropical fruit and vanilla aromas. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, seamlessly alcoholic (14.1%) and fairly fresh, yet concurrently has a creamy texture and a substantial component of toasted oak. The flavors mirror the nose and stay solid in the middle. Medium-to-long and smooth on the finish, this is a quality offering which, while very good, would have been better with a little less oak. Drink now-2018.
