Monday, February 15, 2016 - Pale and even relatively thin raspberry color with almost colorless rim. Very open, nuanced and expressive nose with aromas of ripe cranberries, brambly raspberries, some wild Campari tones, a little bit of waxy funk and a touch of earthy spice. The wine is ripe, light-to-medium-bodied and enjoyably crunchy on the palate with very juicy flavors of brambly raspberries, stony minerality, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of ripe cranberries and a tart hint of lingonberries with a wild, perfumed and slightly zesty undercurrent. The wine is firm and structured mainly due to its high acidity, as the tannins feel pretty light and easy. The rather long finish is slightly more grippy and tannic with crisp, pure and fresh flavors of ripe cranberries, tart lingonberries, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of stony minerality and a sappy hint of raspberry leaf.

A wonderfully pure, fresh and crunchy Marsannay that is all about delicate yet not thin or underwhelming Pinosity. There seems to linger a fragrant, slightly wild undertone that only adds some nice complexity and character to the wine. Perhaps not a particularly ageworthy wine, but a very enjoyable and drinkable effort nonetheless. Great stuff for earlier consumption. Nice!
