Friday, January 15, 2021 - The colour showed its age, old tawny port like in appearance. This particular bottle was recorked in 1976. Earthy with graphite, old leather and mushroom bouquet with subtle undertones of preserved cherries and plums. Very fragrant though very little fruit left. Not surprising for this 63 years old Bordeaux. It is quite amazing that there is no volatile acid at all. Palate is very silky and long supported by a polished structure from entry to finish which is wonderfully deep and lingering at the back of the throat. Some residual sweetness of preserved fruit can be found in the mid-palate. But pour this in smaller quantity as it does fade quite quickly as it sits in the glass. This is a well stored bottle. Highly enjoyable on its own.
