Thursday, November 24, 2011 - Decanted prior to Thanksgiving dinner. Incredibly beautiful light orangey ruby. Totally transparent. Very much alive at 24 years of age. Muted nose of eucalyptus. Absolutely gorgeous in the mouth. This wine has all in harmony. Perfectly balanced and smooth. Layers of flavors, sweet red fruits, menthol, eucalyptus, some earth, minerals and leather. Vibrant acidity and a very long finish. Just sublime. This is why you cellar wine for a long time. Hats off to the Henschke's. My wife and I visited the winery in 1989 and I bought this bottle off of their mailing list when I lived down under. Brought back to the US and cellared ever since.
