Saturday, July 23, 2011 - GPL vertical with '96 Pauillacs (Scenic Loop Cafe, San Antonio, TX)): Had the great disservice to be served last in a long line-up. Deecanted a few hours before. Nose had saline, barnyard, and a very prominent herbal/leafy quality. After that, it was about as shut down a wine as I’ve ever had, with high quality but very prominent tannins. Another ’00 that’s difficult to assess. Needs lots of time.
