Monday, December 24, 2007 - Deep opaque black purple with medium thick legs in the glass. The nose is wonderfully expressive with unique aromas of olive, mineral, and blackberry. The aromas carry over to the suavely textured palate with flavors of olive tapenade, meat juice, dark berries, and spicy pepper undertones. I get the impression that this wine has a tremendous concentration of fruit but the structure is so commanding with firm sweet tannins and fresh bracing acidity that you don't realize it. This is my first experience with this vineyard but in the hands of Copain it appears to offer an amazing combination of new world and old world attributes. Decanted several hours.
