Monday, July 6, 2009 - Wine Education Service Sicily & Sardinia Tasting (LSE, London): Wow! Deep brooding opaque colour with a brickish rim. Nose of forest floor, some vegetal qualities but with definite fruit too. Blackcurrants and black cherries in fact. Then there is the leather, sweet spice, dark chocolate and tobacco too. Amazing nose! Palate does not disappoint either. Incredibly big, tannic and chewy, yet remarkably smooth too. Spicy ripe fruit persists through a very long finish. Lots going on with this wine. Nicely balanced now, but would even survive a few more years of careful cellaring (as they say).
