Sunday, August 4, 2019 - Medium(-) garnet cloudy with fine sediment despite standing for weeks. I suspect the sediment was stirred in the process of dealing with the crumbing cork. Wine was intact but cork screw is not recommended on this 33 year old bottle.

Nose was initially very dusty and muddled... I feared it was over the hill; however 3 hours in decanter really paid off. Nose is classic tar and light rose perfume with sweet tobacco. I was particularly impressed by the palate which still presented fresh sour cherry fruit and lovely acid. Body filled out with m(+) deliciously fine tannin after 3.5h. I think this is at a peak but with years of plateau remaining.
