Saturday, August 13, 2022 - Black purple in hue. Stunningly pure (and classic) nose of liqueured boysenberry, star anise and cinnamon. The nose is all about the beauty of fruit, but there is some bottle- aged oak character to frame this. The palate is all finesse, with boysenberry fruit presented in a pure and totally refined manner. The varietal is betrayed somewhat by the slight monolithic nature of the fruit, but only just. The palate profile is consistent right to the very lengthy finish. The tannins are velvet, and while this does not feel like a 20-year old wine, there is some beautiful and welcome bottle age complexity to this that is beguiling. Easily the finest PS I have drunk. A beauty with beef! For those lucky enough to have this in the cellar (this was put only bottle!), there is no rush.
