92 Points

Saturday, April 25, 2015 - This took about 45 minutes to come together in the decanter but it's not hit peak maturity yet. Loads of berries - black, blue, red. Cedar, mocha, that Ducru wet mineral/iodine note. Eventually a touch of pencil. The nose was bound together seamlessly, but that's just Ducru. A tough, tannic mouthfeel and finish.

I've been looking forward to this; it's the only Ducru from the 1994-1999 period I didn't have a note on. We'll see in a few years, but for now the 99 has the definitive edge. Perhaps slightly superior to the 94 (which is very good for the year), inferior to the sublime 96, and a big question mark compared to the reticent 95.
