On the nose it actually smells promising, sweet roses, earth and liquorice. But the palate is lacking; elegant, acidic, with some mushroom, tobacco and little fruits left to speak of. There’s also a distinct sherry like note here which probably is a natural consequence of the age. No luck with the Barolo roulette this year.
