Sunday, March 5, 2017 - A funny beast, the 2000 Barton - you'd expect a big block of a wine, still painfully young and undeveloped. But you don't quite get that - youthful yes, but big and blocky? Certainly not. This was beautifully elegant; not exactly fine-boned, but lithe. Developing notes of cassis and blackberry with lots of mineral, leather, and smoke. Lots of depth. Medium bodied, appropriate weight (12.5%), nice length. A fitting foil to the 61. I won't touch the next one for another 5ish years.
