Thursday, October 15, 2020 - This is a decent drink, but 2002 was not the greatest year for the estate. It is a very austere St. Estephe, and I personally think that this is as good as it's going to get. It actually has a beautiful nose packed full of ripe blackberry with tobacco notes. However, the palate is lean and lacking depth, and the finish is lengthy but leaves a residual bitterness. This had 4 hours in the decanter, but I don't think aeration or further age will address the weaker elements of the wine. However, that said it is an enjoyable wine with food. I'll try again in another couple of years, but I'm not holding my breath.
