This has now tipped over the edge from the exuberance it had in its youth to a slightly past its best mature fruit bomb. Still an impenetrable dark colour but with a slight rusty sheen, a mix of sweet blackberry with some prominent pruney notes and its 15.5% abv very much in evidence. Almost too rich. Lots of mature fruit on the palate and with considerable length, but just lacking freshness. An hour decant improved the experience.
