Monday, July 20, 2020 - Impressive for a Bourgogne, especially when paired with a duck margret. The nose hinted at the domaine’s NSG terroir, with notes of wet stone and earth alongside dark cherries and berries, maybe a touch of violets. Really nice and rather deep for a Bourgogne. The same thing could be said of the palate. It was bright, juicy and surprisingly structured, especially for a 2014, with sour cherries and cranberries laced with notes of stony mineral. Past the midpalate and into the finish, some bright, acids and a chew of tannins led into a blush of fresh herb and just a little spice. Not earth-shaking, but this was a nice, food-friendly Bourgogne. A touch of hollowness on the midpalate gave it away, otherwise I would have called it a village.
