Saturday, September 1, 2012 - Deep dark ruby color. Nose of cassis leather, earth and cedar. After 4 hours breathing it was round and soft yet still lively with a bit of tannin remaining. My guess is this still has a good bit of life left. On the palate you get dark berry and cassis then a layer of saddle leather then a cedar aftertaste which is moderately long. Lovely expression of a Margaux. Surprising it went really well with a Swiss Chard side-dish with bacon really setting off a smoky earthy explosion in the mouth.
