Saturday, May 14, 2022 - First tasted after one hour in the glass, and again at 24 hours. The nose was so enticing you could inhale the minerality of this wine. On the palate blackberries and plums with more gravel and mineral, but very grippy tannins. I think this wine will be fantastic in 20 years but not so much fun (and kind of a waste) to drink now. Even 24 hours later it is still quite grippy. The 15% alcohol seems less obvious to me vs the other wines wine drank today. I will be looking for older vintages!

5/15/2022 5:12:00 PM - Sorry for your experience, but thank you for sharing it! Trotanoy is an awesome producer, IMO, but they definitely need age! I hate to be a party pooper, but even the 98 was a little tight (especially for its age), but did have lots of tertiary goodness and sltillsomelively fruit (especially on the PnP). But even a substantial decant didn't totally smooth out the tannins. Don't get me wrong, it was very enjoyable, but it does make me question many of my later purchases (10, 14, 15, 18, 19 & 20)....guess time will tell! If we ever get together for a Bordeaux event or of your travels ever bring you to MN (or we meet somewhere for a tasting), remind me to open older one for you to taste.

5/16/2022 3:35:00 AM - That would be great Jason, I’d love to taste an older Trotanoy. This experience wasn’t all bad. I loved the nose and could have sniffed it all day. It’s just a shame to drink so young! I believe the 98 could have been closed. I have heard the 90 is perfect right now😀
