Sunday, August 1, 2021 - This was drinking well but still a bit early. Initial notes of dark fruits, earth, and olive on the stunted nose. In the mouth it's big, rich, and tannic, though a little monolithic at first. We then decanted as it went into a shell for a couple hours before re-emerging to reveal more nuanced notes of herbs (i.e., rosemarry), graphite, damp earth, cured meat, and a mix of plum, blackberry, blueberry. With more time spice and tobacco came to the fore, followed by an increasingly long and expressive finish of the same flavors. I think there's more substance and complexity here that'll come out with a few more years of bottle age, but it's really good now with at least 2-3 hours in the decanter. 94+
