Sunday, February 13, 2022 - I’d been eyeballing this bottle in the cellar for quite a while. Today was the day for it. Had a feeling it would be a perfect lunch wine with Italian food due to the 12.5 ABV. Had with a Chicago style vegetarian pizza. Prior notes on color were pretty much on target ruby-ish purple in color for me. Surprisingly not much browning at the edge of the glass yet. Palate was blackberry, plum and tart cherry. I got a hint of cola mid palate as well. It held its own with a garlicky spinach and tomato pizza. I’d recommend it with an Italian dish rather than on its own. If I see it again for ten bucks I’ll be buying more. Very pleased with it given the price point and age of the bottle. Alas this was the last one in my cellar.
