Sunday, February 19, 2017 - Blind Tasting: 2015 Clos Du Bois Pinot Noir vs. 2 small-production new world Pinots (Family get-together for Dad's 91st birthday): Tasted single blind alongside the 2012 Sandler SLH Pinot and 2012 Vincent Crowley Station Pinot (Oregon).
Very shy nose but showing some typical Cali Pinot fruit. On the palate, a fair amount of tannin with some restrained new world Pinot fruit. Pretty good depth of fruit with a slight bitter note. Very good.
My guess is the Vincent. After the reveal, was quite surprised as I was expecting a softer, more generic tasting red. Group's #1 (5 of 10 first place votes), my #2.
