88 Points

Tuesday, October 17, 2017 - From a carafe over dinner at Mad About Garlic.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour with purplish tinge. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of earth, black cherries, dark red plums, sweet spices, chocolate. Youthful.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), chewy high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of juicy black cherries, dark red plums, dark red cherries, chocolatey earth, sweet spices. Sweet vanillin with more air. Medium finish only though.
Good quality. Juicy fruit on a nice body. Simple food friendly wine. A lot less rustic than what you may expect out of a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Drink and enjoy over next 2 years, not for ageing.
From young vines. Aged for 6 months in used French oak barrels.
