Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - Visit to Giuseppe Mascarello with Elena Mascarello (Monchiero, Piemonte): A small cuvee, only 1,500 bottles made. Aged 24 months in botte. Vines 30 years old. A savoury, fresh and breezy bouquet of blackberries and other dark fruit. On palate, drier than expected, particularly after the Barbera. Good, racy acids. Blackberries and kirsch. A serious tannic spine and good length. Not at all rustic. Cellar for 3 + years for the acids to integrate and the tannic grip to loosen.
