Friday, May 4, 2007 - Wild Game with 2003 Châteauneuf-du-Pape + Extras (Skymountain Circle): Next came horseradish & sour cream smashed potatoes paired with one of South Africa’s finest – the Rubicon. This 2001 has a huge nose of boysenberry, pralines, menthol, herbs and a basket of dark fruits. Its taste was consistent with the nose except that it was denser and richer than I would have expected. Also there was a wonderful lavender and dried flowers thing going on in the background. This wine should continue to evolve for some time. It hung very well with the CDPs. What a wonderful value. 95+
