Tuesday, December 4, 2018 - Paternity Leave (including Thanksgiving); 11/5/2018-12/8/2018: High intensity aromatics, red cherry, slight spice, slight tar which gives it a bit of depth; palate is light bodied, high tannins, youthful and structured, medium alcohol (14.5, holds it well), medium-plus acid; medium-plus length finish. Really young despite a 2 hour decant, but promising. I place this behind the ‘11 and ‘08 for now but ahead of the ‘09 by a large step. No score.

12/5/2018 1:16:00 AM - Thanks for the note. I own 08, 12, 13 vintages and have only opened an 08. I think the world of Cappellano and hope to hold these until 15+ years for the first peaks for the 12/13 but appreciate early impressions. Compelling wines for sure!

12/5/2018 8:55:00 AM - No score out of respect for the producer who dislikes scoring on his wines.

Sh@n, let me know what you think about your bottle (and post a cellartracker note!).

12/5/2018 10:12:00 AM - Respect AA! Respecting the producer in that manner! I hope he sees that not, and confuses me for you one day! I will post a note. Will try to compare to the '11 as well.. but decant time will be different for me on the '11.. and I'm not as skilled as you recalling wines in such fervent detail from a month ago :)

12/5/2018 11:22:00 AM - Thanks. Was aware But surely this is relevant for the Galloni et alios who make a business out of it, not for mere end users like us (or me at last)?

12/5/2018 4:25:00 PM - Certainly I don't think the producer would be angry if I gave it a score, and certainly I would be able to having paid for the bottle. But I agree with his philosophy, that scores to some extent take away from the experience. But it is why I tried to compare it to other vintages I've tasted recently, to give readers some sense of where I thought this bottle fit in compared to others from this producer.
