Sunday, January 27, 2013 - To celebrate the arrival of Hugo Faulkner (aged 4 days), a wine with 40 years age.
Popped with a sigh and a faint vapour trail, poured with a soft mousse and a mid amber colour.
A rich nose of forest fruits, almost black forest, very, very Krug though.
Some tertiary oak notes, but a rich cherry fruit and fresh bakers yeast attack. A prickle in the mouth, but soft. Lovely gentlemanly wine with real persistent character.
My oldest Krug, this has clearly been looked after, still lively sour acidity, bought via Bonhams in 2009.
