Monday, June 26, 2017 - From magnum. Opened several hours in advance of service, then decanted right before service. This bottle was from the 1987 Napa Valley Wine Auction, magnum #3 of 54 produced from a single barrel especially for the auction.

Wow, this wine is fabulous! It's dark red with little color loss and still opaque. The tannins are fully resolved, but there's still a lot of ripe red fruits coming out along with a nice acidity. The nose is showing leather and cedar. Based on this bottle, the wine will still provide years of pleasurable drinking. Perfect with the smoked leg of lamb it was served with.
