Nothing much to begin with. Earthy, muddy, peaty, forest floor. Then came a long muddy, rubber and old boots phase.... After 3 hours it really started to rock!
Humid forest floor after summer rain on the nose with kirsch, amaretto, cherry liqueur, freshly slaughtered duck, game, blood, confection, truffle, slate, mineralite, hickory smoke. Really put "everything and nothing" in a clear light.
The palate was plush, silky, velvety, still with plenty of soft tannic grip and vibrant acidity. Mulberries, plums, Japanese wineberries, only a little vinous sweetness. Things continued to slowly unfold but the pleasure here was really in the nose.
