Monday, April 1, 2019 - A classic Spanish Rioja.
On nose: tobacco , cherry pits and coffee.
On palate: follow through of the above flavours , as well as damp earth , cranberries and clean , fresh acidity.
At 14 years , an austere , elegant food wine.....the oak is present , but supportive rather than overbearing .
At a dinner for 4 , blind tasted, 2 participants thought it might be a mature Volnay.....as it does have some Burgundian character.
