2014 Seven Stones Cabernet Sauvignon

Saturday, September 19, 2020 - 3 hr decant at 55. Purple to ruby rimmed red fruit in the glass. Tannins silky and acids in balance. New oak influence still a little more than i personally enjoy. Overall a good wine but compared to other recent Napa 14's, this wine in comparison lacks depth, complexity and minerality. Hopefully more time in the cellar will tone down some of the sweet red fruit.

10/4/2020 2:48:00 PM - Good to know Michael, thanks! I had the '13 which I really liked a while back. Picked up a 3 pack of the '16 during my visit there but still haven't sampled it. The '17 they tasted with us was nice but hard to pay the price for just nice.

10/5/2020 11:53:00 AM - Good to know. It's a beautiful property up there. I haven't heard if it was damaged in the fires. You?

10/5/2020 5:49:00 PM - At the very least 5 million in art. My conservative guess would have been $20mm

10/5/2020 7:05:00 PM - Wow......I'm out of the art world loop! I would've just taken the estate off their hands and let them keep all the art. Some of it would have been a pain to mow around anyway!

10/5/2020 7:16:00 PM - Complete guess! I just know the art on the property was published. I think the owner created MRE's for the military.

10/5/2020 7:26:00 PM - That explains it....I had a patient here in Naples who founded some MRE company for the military in the mid 90's and he literally made hundreds of millions of dollars.....the dollars they spent on material things were mindboggling. $45,000 candy apple red Italian leather sofa for example. Must be nice......I knew I was in the wrong business.
