Wednesday, January 3, 2018 - Popped and poured; consumed over six hours. This was a really pleasant surprise...not that I should be expecting a bummer from Mauro Molino but when I consider that I paid sub $30 for a 2013 Barolo, I guess I set my expectations to "reasonable". Well, this exceeded those expectations with aplomb. A mix of dark and red fruits bursting from the glass along with tar and roses. Primary notes dominate. Abundant yet edgy fruit on the palate and unmistakably Barolo with loads of structure to carry this deep into the next decade. It gained some weight after about an hour in the glass and drank very well until the last sip six hours later. Killer with pasta alla Bolognese. Drink now or hold.
