Tuesday, October 24, 2023 - Big ripe blackberry, nutmeg, rosemary, thyme, barnyard. Took about two hours to open up. Velvety black fruit with some herbs and warm spices. Powdery tannins on the finish, but nothing before the finish. Low acidity. Despite the high (15%) alcohol, it doesn't come across as hot, but it definitely feels fat. Between the low acidity, heavy body, and minimal tannins, this wine is just fat. It's definitely a well made wine, I just dont think this should have aged this long. When younger, I get the feeling that the freshness of youth would have balanced this wine better.
