Monday, November 20, 2017 - My last magnum, approached with some trepidation; would it have survived 30 years, even with the benefit of a larger bottle? I decided that it needed no more air, so simply uncorked and served 30min later. It has a faded garnet colour, somewhat dried out nose and touch of earth on the palate, but surprisingly, as the evening went on, it opened up and more fruit emerged, with a savoury finish. I think it is past its best, but holding up well for its age and very well for its price (£20 at auction, early '90s....). A very nice old school claret.
