92 Points

Saturday, April 30, 2011 - From a pristine bottle purchased upon release, This wine looked strong wth a red/purple center and just a touch of orange at the rim. The medium+ intensity nose featured red & black fruits, mocha, soil, and some fruit cake.

While it was drinkable from the start, this wine took 4 hours to show its true personality. After the ripe, nicely sculpted entry, it showed a sappy mid-palate and a long finsh. The acidity was strong and the tannins were round but firm. In fact, I would say that this wine's best days are still ahead. While it will probably never be a 95 point (or higher) wine. It is an attractive wine that should move up a point or two with 5 or more years. It will easily last 10-20 more if well stored.
