Saturday, November 19, 2022 - Decanted for an hour. Aromas of red and black fruit with some hints of earthy, minty herbs. Flavors of blackberry, black cherry, and some spice (sandalwood, star anise?). Full bodied but not viscous - amazingly airy on the palate. Long, long, fine tannins linger in the finish. The fruit flavors are more integrated and rounded than when I last tasted this wine (2019). The integration will certainly continue in the cellar along with what will likely be an even finer melding with the tannins. Acidity still discernible but pleasingly integrated. I’ll pull another bottle in a few years. A very nice wine, perhaps a bit modest in the Lokoya line, that was a fun accompaniment to a boneless New York strip steak simply grilled with salt, pepper, and a healthy drizzle of olive oil.
